Marlene M. (Geary) Zirkle

Marlene M. (Geary) Zirkle, age 69, of Port Vue, died February 29, 2020, at UPMC McKeesport Hospital. Born January 1, 1951, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late John and Alice (Mikina) Geary and wife of Kenneth Zirkle, Sr.
Marlene retired early from UPMC Center for Rehab Services Shadyside as a certified physical therapy technician after 31 years of service. She previously worked as the head cook for the Bettis Plant. Marlene loved to cook and bake with her family and friends. Marlene was a former member of the Transfiguration of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She was a current member of St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church. Marlene liked to spend time at LifeSpan Mon Valley Senior Center and playing cards with her family and friends. She also enjoyed bowling, and in her early years, belonged to a league at Colonial Lanes. Marlene was always supportive of her children and volunteered with their extracurricular activities growing up. She loved to tend to her garden and craft Christmas items for her home.
In addition to her husband, Marlene is survived by her children, Kenneth Zirkle, Jr., of Clairton, Kimberly (Vincent) Andognozzi of North Huntingdon, and Kristen (David) Fricke of Port Vue; grandchildren, Angel, Kristina, and Alice; siblings, Allen (Barbara) Geary of Baldwin, and Alicia (Russell) Brown of Liberty Borough; sister-in-law, Patricia Geary, also many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, John Geary.
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a memorial service at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church.
Inurnment will take place at a later date in New St. Joseph's Cemetery.
