Mario Volponi Obituary

Mario F. Volponi, age 89, of Liberty Borough, died at home on April 26, 2020. Born July 22, 1930, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Antonio and Rosa (DiLullo) Volponi and husband of Louise (Galeziowski) Volponi. Mario worked for General Motors, primarily in West Mifflin, but also throughout the United States as an accountant for 40 years. He was an avid Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates fan. He especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mario was well-loved and a sweet man. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Philip and Mark (Carol) Volponi; daughter-in-law, Margueritte Volponi: grandchildren, Michael (Catherine) Volponi, Rose Volponi, Samantha (Ian Case) Volponi, Kimberly (Kevin) Volponi-Klepeisz, Rebecca (Jacob) Boddy; step-grandchildren, William H. Johnson and Nicholas E. Johnson; great-grandchildren, Wheeler Volponi, Desmond Volponi, Serafina Mackelfresh, Violet Mackelfresh, Brayden Case and Greyson Boddy. He was also preceded in death by son Guy Volponi and granddaughter, Candice Volponi. A private family visitation was held at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory.
