John W. Schaut

John W. Schaut, age 85, of McKeesport, died August 6, 2022.  Born October 21, 1936, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Alexis E. and Alice M. (Schmitt) Schaut and husband of the late Barbara Schaut.  John was a member of Holy Trinity Church until it closed and was currently a member of Saints Joachim and Anne Parish.  He served in the Navy for 4 years and then transferred to the Naval Reserves.  John was a draftsman and worked for various engineering firms.  He was a skilled woodworker and built toy boxes and rocking horses for his grandchildren when they were young.  He was also an avid gardener and enjoyed taking walks around his neighborhood.  He volunteered for 25 years with AARP preparing taxes, and also volunteered with the Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.  John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He is survived by a son, Michael (Marcy) Schaut; grandchildren, Michael (Lexi) Schaut, Samantha (Ian Cottone) Schaut, and Allison (Rob) Ackerman; great-grandson, Alexander William; siblings, Rose Mary Haynick, Dorothy Javorsky, Raymond Schaut, Patricia Ann Kritzman, Elizabeth Minothy, and James Schaut.  In addition to his parents and wife, John was also preceded in death by a daughter, Monica Schaut, and a brother, William Schaut.  A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at 10 a.m., in Saints Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Eugene Church of Liberty Borough.  Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.  Arrangements were entrusted to Willig Funeral Home & Crematory.  Condolences and memories may be shared at www.willigfuneralcremationservices.com.  Charles Danforth, Supervisor
